Wisdom Tooth Removal

When all other options to restore teeth with the mentioned issues have been exhausted, the most suitable and sole solution is to extract the tooth. Tooth extraction may be necessary due to various oral health conditions, including:

  • Severe tooth decay
  • Advanced gum disease
  • Dental abscess or infection
  • A tooth that has broken off below the gum line
  • Crowded or impacted wisdom teeth

Additionally, tooth removal may be recommended to facilitate the placement of dental implants, dentures, or orthodontic treatment.

Ensuring Your Comfort

Our dentists and dental team have extensive experience and expertise in performing tooth extractions, consistently achieving outstanding results. Prior to commencing the procedure, we administer a powerful local anesthetic to numb the tooth, ensuring a pain-free experience for you.

In addition, we provide sedation dentistry options such as nitrous oxide and oral sedation, which effectively reduce anxiety and promote a state of calm and relaxation. To further enhance your comfort and create a stress-free environment, we offer soothing amenities like blankets, neck pillows, and TVs in our treatment rooms.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Not everyone experiences problems with their wisdom teeth, but for many, there is not enough room in the jaw for them to come in properly. This can result in pain or crowding of the teeth, and in some cases, the wisdom teeth may grow underneath other molars and become impacted or stuck.

The procedure for removing wisdom teeth varies depending on whether they have fully emerged or are impacted. If the tooth is not impacted, removal is usually straightforward. However, if the tooth is impacted in the gum, surgical removal is typically recommended.

Our team will assess your situation and advise on whether it is necessary to remove your wisdom teeth.

Self-Care Tips for Tooth Extraction

Whether you undergo a simple or surgical extraction, the post-procedure care steps remain the same:

  • Allow your body sufficient time to heal and recover by taking the rest of the day off after the procedure.
  • We will apply sterile gauze to the extraction site, and you should bite down on it for approximately an hour or until the bleeding stops. Then, replace it with fresh gauze.
  • Avoid smoking or using a straw as these actions can dislodge the protective clot forming over the extraction site.
  • Opt for a soft food diet for the next few days. Consider options such as pudding, cooled soup, broth, and yogurt.
  • Continue brushing your teeth as usual, but avoid the extraction site.
  • If you encounter any complications, our emergency dentists are just a phone call away. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
